Angry Young Women In Low-Rise Jeans With High-Class Issues debuted on January 19, 2006 at the Duo Theatre in the East Village. The show was scheduled to close on February 12th, however due to critical acclaim and steadily increasing attendance (due mainly to word of mouth) the show was extended for an additional two weeks. During the two-week extension, three of the four shows were completely sold out. Finally, the show closed on February 24th. Unfortunately extending the show further was not an option at that time because the venue was booked into the spring.

In May of 2006, Angry Young Women was selected for the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts. After a great response at the festival, the Theater for the New City commissioned a six-week run of Angry Young Women, beginning on January 4th, 2007.

“Highly satisfying”

That run proved to be even more successful than the first. The show again drew massive crowds, sold out twenty-one out of thirty-one shows (on a non-existent marketing budget), received greater media attention (including a guest spot on the Joey Reynolds show), earned even more rave reviews, and was given another two-week extension. It was the biggest little hit in New York City.

The summer of 2007 saw the show go to yet another level. On July 12th, Angry Young Women opened its off-Broadway run at The Players Theatre in New York’s legendary Greenwich Village. It ran for fifteen weeks, finally closing on October 20th. Once again the show generated great crowds, great reviews, and more media attention (another spot on the Joey Reynolds show, coverage in Newsday, The Villager, United Stages and Playbill). Then on August 16th Angry Young Women made its international debut at the TAP Gallery in Sydney, Australia. The show proved to be just as big of a success overseas, receiving rave reviews, great media coverage, selling out seventeen of the eighteen performances, and being commissioned for a second run.

In 2008, the “raunchy little show that could” rolled on to the next level.  On January 9, the second Australian run began and it was even more successful than the first, running for another four weeks, again selling out every show but one and receiving more rave reviews.  Then in the Spring, Samuel French Inc. published Angry Young Women making the script available for purchase all over the world.

And to top off 2008, Angry Young Women made its L.A. debut on October 3rd    at the Hudson Mainstage on Hollywood’s Theater Row.  It was scheduled for a six-week run, but in true Angry Young Women tradition, it earned a two-week extension thanks to big crowds and even more rave reviews.

Now, on December 3rd 2009, after a two year and two month absence as it traveled around the globe, Angry Young Women will return home to the Theater for the New City, the place that put it on the map.

The future looks even brighter for Angry Young Women as discussions are also underway with an independent film company to adapt it into a feature film.

Thank you very much for your time and interest. And be sure to buy the script and be sure to see Angry Young Women when it invades your town!!!!!
